The Kind Mind Method - an exercise in positivity

Exercising positivity in everything we do each day can be hugely beneficial to our state of mind.

This book by Alexander Walton is an insight into his struggle with the damage that negative thoughts can have on one's mental health. Alexander describes his use of the Kind Mind Method, a cognitive tool that helps him to step away from negative thoughts. How it pushes him to engage with the wider world. Alexander describes how the method gives his mind space to think freely and how it gently guides him to having a better outlook on life.

The book provides information, context, tips and tricks to help the reader understand the method, to maximise the potential for success in improving positive thinking and it is Alexander's hope that this method shows there is an opportunity to change.

My views

I found this book to be an interesting exploration of one man's progress from negativity and poor mental health into one of positivity and personal discovery. Whether or not the method is one I will continue to use, I am as yet unsure, but I will certainly be giving it a try. I don't think I am coming from the same starting point as Alexander, and therefore some of the more extreme emotions he experiences do not resonate so strongly we me. The book is not packed with science, which I found refreshing. Instead it provides a record of the author's observations, opinions and experiences - making me think "I like the sound of that, it makes sense".

I have already recommended this book to one of my clients who experiences negative thoughts that consume him and impact his wellbeing.
